GET INVOLVED NOW!

E-mail Print PDF

In a recent SEE for the 2012 Games Information Briefing a simple pledge pack was created with some practical ideas for any organisation to get more involved in activities inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Please download the pledge pack and perhaps run through the ideas suggested with colleagues at your organisation and please pledge to take action in 2010!

And here are some other simple ways you can get involved straight away...

  1. Tell relevant colleagues in your workplace about this site, about the vision to create a skills legacy and get them to join the network
  2. Look at the Framework for Action, and pick out which of the 10 suggested priorities are most relevant to you. Then think of one practical way in which your organisation could contribute to your selected priorities - get colleagues’ opinions about your idea, or chat it through with our Secretariat who will be happy to offer advice and guidance where possible
  3. If you think you have a brilliant story to tell about ways in which you have used 2012 to inspire your work then why not write a news article and send it to us with photos or film clips – we can publicise your information for free in many ways and help raise your organisation’s profile in this community
  4. See whether your local school or college has registered on Get Set (http://getset.london2012.com/en/join-us/registrations-in-your-region/yorkshire-and-humber) and if not why not make them aware of the fantastic free resources, competitions and opportunities they could benefit from just by registering on this official London 2012 education programme site
  5. Thinking of running a skills competition, event, meeting or workshop with a 2012 theme? Then why not let us help you promote it across Yorkshire, just let us have the details and we can get the message out there for you. Depending on the content of your event you may be able to use the Yorkshire Gold branding too (see www.yorkshire-gold.com)
  6. Maybe you work in a college or a university, if so you need to visit www.podium.ac.uk as soon as you can for an exceptional array of resources and ideas focused on people just like you – it will be time well spent and you will feel up to speed on good practice from FE and HE partners around the country in no time at all
  7. If you work in a local authority there’s a good chance that there are many of your colleagues also interested in some aspects of the Games – do you know who they are? Do you know your authority’s plans for seizing the opportunities of the Games across sport, culture, tourism, communities and business? Why not make enquiries and get involved in local plans – need help with this, just get in touch and we’ll try and get you to the right person as quickly as we can
  8. Want to know what’s going in a particular part of the region? We can help you link up with key contacts in North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. In some areas there are dedicated 2012 Project Managers such as in Leeds and North Yorkshire, who will be eager to know of ways in which you can get involved in their activities
  9. We’re looking for enthusiastic partners who can help us deliver ‘signature projects’ in 2009 and 2010. Have a look at initial plans for these activities and let us know if you can get involved by contacting the Secretariat
  10. Maybe your a strategic partner that can influence or provide resources to fund some of the innovate ideas being catalysed by the Games and this Network. If you want a one to one discussion about how we can align ideas with your organisation’s resources please don’t hesitate to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
